Well, I'm back running and I'm back training for a race!
Yip, you read that right, I'm back in the saddle and training for a race, but it's not any race, I'm going straight back in to marathon training!
I've got 1 of 25 places in the inaugural Water of Leith marathon!!
I've ran the half marathon route a few times now and I love it. An A to B course, starting up hill in Balerno, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. You then run down the length of the Water of Leith, which is a river that runs from the Pentlands all the way down to the sea!
The marathon starts at the sea, then heads up the Water of Leith to the start line of the half marathon and then you turn around and run back down the same route - I'm presuming this is the course as it's not been announced yet.
I've 10 weeks to get ready for it and I'm really looking forward to it.
I'm not training for any specific time (other than to keep within the 4 hour cutoff) and I'm just looking to enjoy running again.
I'm going to be running 3 times a way, probably Monday / Wednesday and Sunday. Sunday will be a long run, Monday and Wednesday I'll do some marathon paced stuff in there.
I'll also be keeping my gym sessions in on a Tuesday / Thursday and Saturday, and I also plan to keep in my bouldering sessions on a Wednesday and Friday.
Pretty busy but it's a nice balance of keeping fit, running because I want to run and enjoying all the other things I do these days.
I'll post more updates as the weeks go by and hopefully see some of you on the course.
